A Day Getaway

Today we took a day trip to Abilene!
We ate lunch, went to the zoo, and played at the park.
It really was a fantastic day.
The weather was so beautiful which made the trip even more enjoyable.

Both kids started out in the stroller, but that didn't last long.
I ended up taking Maebry out and carrying her so she could see better.
Paxton decided he was our tour guide and needed to show us where to go.

Paxton started out being really interested in everything...

He was all, "Whoa! Cool! Look!"
That didn't last very long either...haha.
He got tired of just walking around looking at things.

We told him that we would play at the playground after the zoo, and that was all he wanted to do.
He did humor me and take some pictures though.

Maebry was amazed the whole time though.
She is at that super fun stage where every new thing is the most amazing thing ever!
She was so excited to see all the animals.

The giraffes were fun because you could get so close to them.

People were even able to feed them from up on the bridge.

My favorite part was the cement overlook to the water.
There is a huge lake by the zoo that has gigantic fish, ducks, and turtles.
This was my favorite part because the kids were so amazed by it.
I let Maebry stand and hold the rails, and she was just loving it.

She did not want me to hold her.
She wanted to stand there and look by herself.

Maebry is a big Mama's girl.
She always wants me to hold her and be with her.
Not this time.
She wanted to do this all by herself.
(Paxton is so good at cheesing for me.)

PAXTON MAMA DADA
(Paxton is sitting here with me and just HAD to type his name, mama, and dada.
I'm proud of him so I let him.)

Anyways, Maebry is getting so big :(

After the zoo, we went to the cute little park right by the zoo.
This was definitely Paxton's favorite part, and if you give Maebry a swing she's good to go.
(The rest of these pictures are from my phone so the quality is not as good.)

Paxton giving Dada a push.

Paxton made two new friends at the park.
This was so fun for us to watch.
I have been worried about his speech delay keeping him from interacting with other kids his age.
I think being in school has been so great for his social skills.
He made quick friends with two different boys, and told me "BYE!" while he ran around with them.

We had a super awesome time.
The kids did great, and we wore them out.
Yay for day trips!
