Mom of Two

Well, I'm a Mother of two kids now.
With every child who joins the family, there are changes that come.
Here are some of my thoughts on two kids....so far.

The Great

-Having a boy and a girl. One of each is fun.

-Watching Paxton interact with his sister. It is so sweet. It makes me see him in a whole new light. He's a big brother now, and he's already acting like it. The other day another child was trying to touch Maebry in her car seat, and Paxton ran right over and protected her. He stood in between Maebry and his friend and told her, "No. No. Don't touch." He started patting Maebry saying, "It's ok." It seriously melted my heart. She is one lucky girl to have a big brother like him.

-Every day I feel so blessed to have two wonderful, healthy, beautiful children.

-I have two little people to dress up now :)

-Those quiet moments when it is just me and my kids, and I just feel SO much love.

-I pretty much always have someone to snuggle with!

-Watching my husband with another baby. He is such a sweet dad, and watching him make his little girl smile just reminds me of another reason why I love him.

-Never a dull moment at our house.

The Not As Great

-There's never a dull moment at our house. haha.

-When both kids are crying at the same time. I can't function when this is happening. I had to start a new rule with Paxton that he can't whine or cry when Maebry is crying.

-I can't give Paxton all the attention that he is used to getting. I know this is a normal part of life, but I have definitely shed some tears about it. It's hard when I'm in the room trying to get Maebry fed and to sleep, and Paxton comes in wanting to play. I have to tell him to leave when he's too loud, and sometimes it breaks my heart. He is used to getting all my attention and time, but now he has to share. It's hard for both of us. I know this issue will get better though as Maebry gets less needy. He will even have a built in playmate in her when she get's older. I'm looking forward to that.

-There are two different schedules to work around now. It's really hard to find time to do things I want to do. "Me time" is hard to come by.

-You have to keep one kid quiet while the other one sleeps. They take turns waking each other up.

-Unloading and loading two kids in and out of the car is a pain.

With all that being said, I am so over the top in love with our families' new addition. The moment I became a Mom, I just knew there was nothing else in the world I would rather be doing. I have grown and changed for the best in so many ways. I love spending my days with these two little people. It's not always perfect, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Trampoline!

I have many childhood memories that include a trampoline.
We always had one growing up, and I LOVED it.
Well, now that I have kids, I hope it will be no different for them.

Santa finally brought Paxton a trampoline, and he is definitely enjoying it.
I took these pictures before Ben had even put the net around it.
Paxton just couldn't wait to get on it.

See? Here he is begging to get on even before the springs were all on.

This has got to be my favorite picture!
What a personality this kid has:)

Paxton would stay outside all day if he could, and now he has another way to play.
The weather has been really nice which has been great for jumping.
I am so glad Santa brought Paxton a trampoline.
I'm also glad we have a net to go around it. I'm not nervous he's going to fall off.
Yay for happy childhood memories!

Happy Birthday Ben!

So, it's probably too soon to know for sure,
but I feel like this little beauty is gonna be a Daddy's girl.
I have to work pretty hard to get a smile out of her,
but Dad just looks at her and she beams.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN!
We love you so much!
From your number one fans,
Wifey, Paxton, and Maebry.

New Year, New Post!

Wow, it has been forever since I've posted on this blog!
So much has changed since the last one!

Introducing....

MAEBRY DIANE BENAVIDES
What a beauty, huh?

Maebry was born November 27, 2012 @ 3:05 AM.
The night before I was scheduled to be induced,
she decided to come on her own!

I have a feeling this is how it's going to go with this one. She decides :)
Maebry has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is not quite 2 months old, but she already has an amazing personality.

My favorite part about having a girl so far, is of course, dressing her. I was crafting girly stuff like crazy before she was born. Ruffles, lace, and bows are just so much fun! Awww, we just love our little Maebry girl.

So what's new with Paxton?

Paxton will be 3 in March, and I can't believe it!
A lot has changed with Paxton since my last post. We started to notice a delay in his language development around 18 months. After discussing this with our doctor, we were referred to an ENT. A hearing test showed that Paxton wasn't hearing much at all. His hearing loss turned out to be related to a build-up of fluid in his inner ear. After countless hearing tests, appointments, and two surgeries for tube placement, Paxton is hearing great! He is still behind in his speech, but I am amazed at how fast he is learning and growing.

His favorite things:

Clocks- He loves counting all the numbers on clocks. He will watch digital clocks and say, "Oh, it's 14. Where's 15?" Pretty much all throughout the day. If there is a clock around, he will find it.

Mirrors- Pretty much any surface that he can see his reflection in, he loves. He dances in front of them, and makes all kind of faces. We joke that he is in love with himself. Although, I would be too if I was that cute!

ABCs- He learned his ABCs pretty soon after getting his hearing back. He will spell out any word that he sees on pretty much anything.

Woody and Buzz- Maebry gave Paxton Buzz and Woody dolls when she joined the family, and Paxton was so excited! He loves the Toy Story characters. Woody is his favorite one. He likes saying, "Howdy Howdy Howdy!"

It hasn't been the easiest thing transitioning to having a baby sister,
but Paxton is fabulous at showing his love for Maebry.

Having two kids is definitely different but such a blessing!

I need to be better about blogging because I have the worst memory!
Hopefully, I can keep up with it from now on...no promises though.
