I took this picture while Paxton and I were at the park with friends. While at the park Paxton did some new things. First, I look over and he's sitting in the rocks playing with them. He's not putting them in his mouth, but he is actually playing with them. Next, he was walking down the path and a man walking a dog passes by. Paxton stops and says, "pup pup!" (which is what we call our dogs at home) and starts chasing after the dog. He has never called another dog pup pup unless I say it first. He also entertained himself by walking from pole to pole under the playset. And Lastly, when I went to pick him up to take him home I noticed he was completely covered in dirt.....just like a little boy would be. Now back to the picture. When I got home I looked at the picture and got really sad because in the picture I did not see a BABY boy. I saw a little KID. A BOY! Not a baby.
My friend and I were talking about this very thing at the park. We talked about how one day she just noticed her baby boy wasn't so babyish anymore! (Her boy is about 6 months older than Paxton so she has gone through this already.)
Paxton's first birthday is in less than a week....I suppose that isn't helping my saddness about my baby boy being big. Now don't get me wrong. I love some of the things he can do now. He has gone from a baby to my little buddy. We can have so much fun together now, because he's like a little person. But no one warned me about realizing one day he's turning into a kid.
